About Bristol

The attractive city of Bristol is the largest in the South West. Famous for its elegant suspension bridge, hot air balloons and Brunel, Bristol is as popular with tourists as it is with the film-makers who flock to its stylish streets.
Bristol has a long footballing history and is home to two football league clubs: Bristol Rovers, founded in 1883, and Bristol City, founded 1897.

The city’s two football main stadiums are the Memorial Stadium (known formerly as the Memorial Ground) and Ashton Gate, the largest in Bristol, which has a seating capacity of around 21,500 people.

Had England been granted host nation status for the 2018 World Cup, Bristol would have been one of the host cities.

At the amateur level, Bristol’s football facilities are excellent, with hundreds of indoor and outdoor, grass and artificial pitches of all sizes available for keen footballers to hire.
